Watkins' Shadow Ridge Bee FarmAbout the Farm |
The Artistry of Beekeeping...
We believe that beekeeping is an undertaking of gentleness and respect for nature. For three generations, the Watkins family has been "charming bees" and harvesting their precious gifts. We are beekeepers - meaning that we nurture and sustain our colonies. Understanding the nature of bees and their culture is key. We offer Wildflower, Tupelo and Sourwood Honey... All are pure, raw, prize-winning honeys from mostly the northwestern and coastal areas of Georgia. Our bees gather nectar from many local botanical varieties, some indigenous only to the Southeastern United States, and home to some of the best-tasting honey available anywhere. We're Passing on Our Knowledge to a New Generation... Our observation beehive piques interest in young and old alike, and we enjoy sharing it at expositions, school assemblies and other educational gatherings. As we show others what we know, we keep learning too, through our membership in the Beekeeping Institute and the Georgia Beekeepers Association. We attend many events to stay informed and up to date on the latest techniques for producing the fine products we offer today. All of Our Processing Conforms to U.S.D.A. Specifications... We take great care to preserve the purity and clarity of each harvest our bees produce. Our honey is laboratory-analyzed and pollens identified so we can be sure of the source blossom. Photo: We inspect our hives frequently to insure bee health and hive integrity. |
